Spring Nests

My Snow & Graham kitchen wall calendar provides much inspiration with each passing month. Upon turning the page from March to April, I immediately determined one of my spring projects and I knew exactly whose assistance was required.

Mr. H is a fellow cooking enthusiast and one of my favorite peeps. He was beyond thrilled when I invited him over to make festive spring nest treats.

Mr. H just couldn’t believe only three ingredients were needed: semisweet chocolate, chow mein noodles and candy eggs.

With adult supervision and a helping hand, Mr. H melted the chocolate using the double boiler method. Yes, of course, Mr. H knows the importance of a double boiler in any kitchen.

Once the chocolate was completely melted, Mr. H stirred in the chow mein noodles until the noodles were well coated.

The mixture was then removed from the heat and placed on a prepared work surface for Mr. H to start building his nests on a non stick mat.

Following in the foot steps of his parents, both architects, Mr. H brilliantly constructed the nests. He made sure each was up to code, leaving enough clearance for the eggs.

Before nestling the eggs in the nests, Mr. H insisted on taste testing one for quality. That is just the kind of gentleman Mr. H is.

Mr. H had tons of fun creating color patterns with the eggs as he placed them in their new homes.

The nests turned out to be true works of delicious art, thanks to the talent of Mr. H.
