After sending off my Sweet Love proposal and inspiration board to Kara, I was pleased to receive such positive feedback. She loved my ideas and was anxious to see the design scheme unfold! We set a deadline for the weekend of the boutique’s first anniversary sale. The next step was working with Kara to create a budget. With this, it was decided some ideas would be more economical as DIY projects. I thought I would share tutorials on two of the decorative details featured in Sweet Love’s new look. Today I will demonstrate how I created cupcake wrapper flowers.
The materials list is very short and could just require a quick trip to your kitchen: cupcake wrappers, string and a sewing needle.
Smooth the pleats of each cupcake wrapper between the thumb and pointer finger.
Create the center of the flower by folding a cupcake wrapper in three halves.
Fold as many layering cupcake wrappers as you wish around the center of the flower, making sure to maintain hold of each wrapper.
Use a needle to tie the many layers together with a string.
Carefully unfold each layer of the flower and TADA!
